As a result, many insurance companies are cancelling or not renewing homeowner's insurance policies. For some residents, the insurance companies are requesting large vegetation clearances and rates are dramatically increasing.

The El Dorado Hills Fire Department says goodbye to Battalion Chief John Niehues. John Niehues dedicated 24 years of service to the El Dorado Hills Fire Department and community. A flag ceremony took place on Saturday, September 27, 2014 honoring John and his years of service.
Yesterday, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. issued an emergency proclamation for El Dorado and Siskiyou counties due to the effects of the King and Boles fires, which have burned thousands of acres, destroyed homes and other structures and damaged critical infrastructure. The growth from yesterday has bumped up the total size of the fire to 70,944 acres. There are currently 3,695 fire personnel working this fire.
El Dorado Hills Fire Department is participating in a fundraiser at Chili's Bar and Grill located in Town Center in El Dorado Hills. Fire personnel and Chief Officers are helping serve lunch and dinner on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Chili's Bar and Grill in a fundraising effort to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

There is a dangerous new activity that some teenagers are attempting which is called the "Fire Challenge". The "Fire Challenge" involves teenagers pouring an ignitable liquid, often rubbing alcohol, on their bare skin and then lighting themselves on fire.
It was recently reported to our Fire Department that there are individuals making phone calls posing as an El Dorado Hills Fire representative soliciting funds to support our Fire Department. This is a SCAM. Please do NOT give any information or money to these individuals as they have no relation to our Fire Department.
