Latrobe Fire Protection District Annexation Update

At the Special Board Meeting held on January 23, 2014, the Board of Directors approved Resolution 2014-04 to proceed with initiating annexation of the Latrobe Fire Protection District.  As of February 3, 2014, the Latrobe Fire Protection District Board of Directors approved to proceed with initiating annexation as well. The next step is to gain approval with El Dorado County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) and the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. Newly Appointed Board of Director

At the Special Board Meeting held on January 23, 2014, Wallace Fullerton was appointed to the Board of Directors. He was appointed to fill the vacant position created by Director Lou Barber who resigned. Director Fullerton took the Oath of Office the same night and will remain in this position through the next election in November 2014.

Governor Brown declares Drought State of Emergency

With California facing water shortfalls in the driest year in recorded state history, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. proclaimed on January 17, 2014 a State of Emergency and directed state officials to take all necessary actions to prepare for these drought conditions.

Toys for Tots Update

We thank you for your toy donations to the Toys for Tots Program in El Dorado County for 2013! Our Toys for Tots Program Leader Chris Landry announces that it was another successful year. "El Dorado Hills collected over 5,000 toys through our local business partners, our station locations, and through the Santa Run. After combining all the donated toys in El Dorado County, Christmas was a bit brighter for over 7,000 local children." Thank you to all of you that took the time to help out with the toy drive and to those that donated toys so that others could have a happy holiday.

Clothes Dryer Safety

According to the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) on fires reported from 2008 to 2010, eighty-four percent of clothes dryer fires that occurred in buildings took place in residential buildings. The installation and maintenance of clothes dryers are an important part of making sure that a clothes dryer performs as designed and does not become a fire hazard.  Click here to view the Dryer Safety Flyer.

Deputy Chief O'Camb Retired

Deputy Chief Jim O'Camb retired on December 23, 2013 after 17 years of dedicated service to the El Dorado Hills Fire Departmnet and community.  Deputy Chief O’Camb brought his vast knowledge and experience in both Firefighting and Emergency Medical Service Operations; became known for his strong work ethic, integrity, commitment to brotherhood, his fellow man and global humanitarian efforts; demonstrated his in-depth knowledge of the construction industry during his role as Fire Marshal as well as leading the planning process for building a new Station 84; approached challenging situations with a positive attitude; and focused on building positive relationships and partnerships within the Department and Community.

Burn Restrictions Lifted

On Friday, November 1st at 8 am, the Amador-El Dorado Unit (AEU) of CAL FIRE rescinded the burn restrictions due to the current and expected weather pattern which will allow homeowners to properly burn their debris piles that have accumulated over the summer. EDH Rotary FF of the Year

Congratulations to Engineer/Paramedic Matt Belleci for being awarded the Firefighter of the Year by the El Dorado Hills Rotary Club.  Engineer Belleci undertook a massive project last year, planning a large training exercise in the Lakehills neighborhood which involved dozens of agencies and hundreds of residents.

The El Dorado Hills Firefighters' Association is accepting applications for their annual scholarship awards program. Applications for eligible candidates may be obtained at the El Dorado Hills Fire Department or through the Counselors at Oak Ridge High School and Ponderosa High School.  The application deadline is Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.

Preserving a Christmas Tradition

El Dorado Hills Firefighters partner with El Dorado Hills CSD and El Dorado County to preserve a Christmas Tradition for the community.  For the past many years, El Dorado Hills Firefighters have decorated the "unofficial" community Christmas tree located at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center.  The sparkling tree spread holiday joy to residents passing by in the evenings between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.

All RESIDENTIAL "DOORYARD" (FORM LE-62 a and b) BURNING PERMITS within State Responsibility Area and Local Responsibility Areas under contract to CAL FIRE will be SUSPENDED beginning 08:00 hours August 15, 2012.  Previously issued "Dooryard" permits will no longer be valid.
