FAQs
Who do I submit Fire Sprinkler Plans to?
This is broken into two different categories: Commercial or Residential. See below for the details.
For Commercial Buildings:
- All new or modified commercial projects require fire sprinkler plans to be submitted to the Fire Department's Prevention Division for review and approval. The submittal will also include a fee based on the number of fire sprinkler heads.
For Residential Buildings:
- All new residential projects with a county permit application date prior to January 1, 2011 are submitted to the El Dorado Hills Fire Department to determine if a residential fire sprinkler system is required. If the determination was made that the residence requires fire sprinklers then the plans are submitted to the Fire Department with the appropriate plan check fee.
- All new residences applied for on or after January 1, 2011 are required to have a residential fire sprinkler system installed. The El Dorado County Building Department is the Authority having jurisdiction for all submittals, reviews, approvals, and inspections of new residential fire sprinkler systems. Please contact them at (530) 621-5775 for detailed information.
