In memory of Lt. Peter (“Pete”) L. Bertelsen, a newly constructed flagpole and monument were unveiled during a Memorial Rededication Ceremony held at Bertelsen Park.
This event marked the 41st anniversary of the death of Lt. Bertelsen, a Volunteer Firefighter and the only El Dorado Hills Firefighter to lose his life in the line of duty.
The El Dorado Hills Fire Department Honor Guard presented the new flag during the rededication ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Lt. Bertelsen’s widow, Pat, and their children, Scott, Kevin, and Marcia, their spouses and grandchildren. Also in attendance were the Cub Scouts of Pack 454 where Lt. Bertelsen had led Pack 454 as Cub Master, as well as many El Dorado Hills community members.
