Low Cost Bike Helmets $8.00

Why do you need a bicycle helmet?

A recent national research study has shown that every year in the United States:

  • Head injuries in bicyclists are noted in 65,000 emergency room cases.
*7,700 hospital admissions *40% of bicyclists are admitted to hospitals. Bicyclists hospitalized with head injuries are 20 times as likely to die.

  • Bicyclist injury rates are highest between ages 5 and 15.

  • 56% of fatally injured bicyclists are age 20 or older.

  • Death rates for male bicyclists ages 20-54 have substantially increased.

Bicycling is not just for young children and teenagers. It is for the whole family and has become a popular fitness activity for health conscious families and provides an alternative means of transportation. Based on the recent popularity in bicycling it is important to wear a helmet at all times when riding a bicycle. It is important for children to see their parents wear their own helmets. Educate by example! Bicycling without a helmet can lead to serious head injuries. A fall from the bike to the ground can kill. Thus, a certified helmet is essential and can greatly reduce a persons' chance of head injury.
